What is a windscreen chip?

A windscreen chip occurs when an object has hit the car windscreen glass at speed. A car windscreen consists of 3 layers the Outer glass layer, Inner glass layer and PVB Inter layer. Can my Chipped Windscreen be Repaired?

There are certain factors which have to be taken into consideration when deciding whether a chipped windscreen can be repaired. According to VOSA (Vehicle and Operator Services Agency) between the period of August 2007 and July 2008, 598,638 Class 4 vehicles failed the MOT test due to damaged windscreens. Many of these vehicles may have passed the MOT test if their chipped windscreen had been repaired.
